There has been huge advances in the ability of endodontic files to shape root canal systems. The problem with "systems" is that there are times when you need a stiff file with excellent cutting efficiency to open up a canal and other times when you need a very flexible file which will not transport the canal around a complex curve. These opposing requirements mean a discerning clinican will have multiple methods to address complexites that are faced in clinical practice.
